Log 270 to 300 Nautical Miles

Sometimes you just have to go for a sail - leave it all behind and immerse yourself in another world - an ocean world where your sailing adventure dreams become an experience building reality. The SailQuest 6D/5N Pattaya>Ko Chang>Pattaya Join-In SAILING EVENT is a fantastic opportunity for sailors to gain hands-on live-aboard cruising experience while sailing with an experienced captain/instructor.

Through-out the event the focus is on building skills and increasing knowledge over a wide range of yachting related subjects including passage planning, navigation, yacht management, provisioning, meal preparation & galley management, sail handling & sail trim, anchoring considerations & techniques, dingy & outboard operation and much more.

The event will include long non-stop passages, night sailing & watch-keeping rotations, as well as day sailing, island hopping, extraordinary beach stops, amazing Thai seafood restaurants, a dingy excursion to a secluded jungle waterfall and real-life sailing adventures as we continue to pioneer yacht cruising in the Gulf of Thailand.

The wind and seas along this passage are usually quite favorable allowing for some decent sailing conditions. We typically make a non-stop, 24 hour, 130 nautical mile passage from the SailQuest base at Ocean Marina to the Ko Chang Archipelago then spend a few days island hopping and anchoring in the evenings to enjoy the onshore hospitality and beach-side restaurants that have made Thailand so popular. The return voyage is often done in 2 hops with an island or river stop-over included. Depending on the route, this event should add 270-300 nautical miles to logbooks.

Here is your chance to get a sailors view of the Gulf of Thailand, make some new sailing friends and ADVANCE YOUR SAILING  GOALS.

ADVANCED TRAINING: SailQuest Join-In SAILING EVENTS are promoted and run as training events - an extension to our online and on-the-water “LEARN to SAIL” Program. Participants who sign-up for these events are usually interested in participating in the operation and activities aboard the yacht, adding sea-time and experience to their logbooks and increasing their sailing education overall.

SailQuest Join-In SAILING EVENTS should be considered ADVANCED TRAINING. Crewing basics, including Sail Handling & Trimming, Docking & Anchoring, Yacht Systems, the "Rules of the Road" and related topics are more effectively covered in the well-organized SailQuest OTW CREW/CAPTAIN COURSE where students learn the theory and basic skills required to carry out crewing and watch-keeper responsibilities, to set & trim sails, to evaluate risk of collision, etc.

Join-In SAILING EVENTS expand our entry-level courses by providing more hands-on experience and “on-the-job” training. Here we are adding to students existing knowledge and providing ADVANCED TRAINING for sailors who are ready to advance.

In other words, to get the most from our Join-In SAILING EVENTS, a "Learn to Sail" course or some previous sailing experience is strongly recommended.
